The Nelson Doyle Dancers, in its 18th year, is a volunteer organization which consists of over 60 boys and girls age five and up who learn traditional Irish dance, language and history under the direction of Ellen Doyle.

Nelson Doyle Dancers: History of the Troupe
The NDD, in its 20th year, is a volunteer organization which consists of over sixty (60) boys and girls age five and up who learn traditional Irish dance, language and history. The group has different levels, and students advance according to merit. The advanced group was invited to perform in four locations in Ireland and travelled to Ireland in 2004 and were invited back and returned to Ireland in 2005. Television appearances include a feature on the Children's program “Master Control” CBC and on a CBC documentary highlighting Irish immigration to N.B. as well as a number of performances on “Breakfast Television” and Live at 5. The Nelson Doyle Dancers were also featured at the Celtic Colours concert on Cape Breton Island. The NDD have travelled to Gaspé the past two summers for the Soufflé D'Ireland festival as well as entertained local seniors and participated in charity fundraisers.
Ellen Doyle is a teacher in District 16 and the founder and volunteer instructor of the NDD. She has over 30 years dance training and experience, having travelled to New York with Dance Caravan for five summers and also to Toronto and various locations within the Maritimes.. The students pay no fee for their lessons and fundraising is done to help cover cost of shoes and traditional Irish dresses. It was Ellen Doyle’s vision when she started this troupe to allow an opportunity for all children to have the chance to dance, no matter their economic situation.
